As an educator and minister I offer private instruction and spiritual counseling in a number of modalities that may be of interest to you. Feel free to email me for more information or to discuss which modality you'd like to explore.

 

Focusing (Click here for more on Focusing)

Focusing is a powerful modality for gaining 'direct access to bodily knowing,' as defined by the Focusing Institute. Developed in the 1970's by Eugene Gendlin, countless people have benefitted from this training. I am passionate about how cultivating the skills in Focusing can enhance awareness and compassion.

In a Focusing session, we begin by identifying a specific issue you'd like to explore. With gentle guidance, you turn your attention to the 'felt sense,' tracking sensations and what arises from entraining your attention on the direct experience of feeling. Many people report a profound 'felt shift' and often insights into conditions and issues that have felt deeply entrenched and intractable. Training in Focusing helps immeasurably as a dynamic awareness training tool.

Sessions are about an hour and may run longer. The fee is 100.00.

 

1-1 Meditation Training and Interviews

Learn how to meditate with 1-1 instruction , or explore how you can bring greater awareness, aliveness and compassion to your current practice. Possible topics may include working with current challenges, integrating new discoveries and refining meditation techniques.

In keeping with the tradition of offering teachings in the spirit of generosity, interviews are on a dana basis (voluntary donation from the generosity of the student). Interviews are generally scheduled for half an hour (or longer if necessary).

1-1 and Small Group Breathwork Journeys

“ Energy is intelligent and evolutionary.”

My training

I initially trained in the tradition of Leonard Orr, who developed the first major breathwork protocol in the West, called“Rebirthing.” In the decades following, I have led groups of up to 150 as well as individuals through the breathwork journey.

My philosophy in breathwork is to help you activate energy and to help you trust the natural expression of what arises from the wisdom of your own body. I do not play evocative music, as is part of other wonderful breathwork traditions. I will occasionally do touch points, with your permission, to assist in the release of tensions.

The most simple techniques are often the most powerful. I know of few modalities as powerful as conscious, circular breathing. This technique has shifted my consciousness dramatically. I have led thousands of people through this process and am always amazed and humbled by the experience.

In this 90-minute session you’ll lie on your back and focus on your breath. You will focus on ‘connecting’ the inhalation and the exhalation, that is, as soon as you exhale, you begin the in-breath. At the top of the in-breath, you exhale.

Your in-breath is full and deep. You exhale with an intention to completely relax and let go.

That’s it.

Why is this so incredibly transformative for so many?

Here’s what happens in a breathwork session. As you continue to breathe in this fashion, you find your system flooded with super-oxygenated blood. Seratonin and endorphins are released. As you continue you’ll feel tingling and new energy flowing through your body. You’ll be drawn deeper and deeper into the paradox of expanded awareness and deep relaxation.

When energy becomes free it begins to mobilizes, automatically moving to where it is blocked. You may feel strong physical sensations arise and you may notice as well phenomenon arise in the emotional body and the mental body. For some people, old memories and emotions surface with new insights. For some there is no emotional content, but the pure experience of fresh, alive energy coursing through their body. At the end of each session comes a deep sense of relaxation and a fresh perspective.

No session is ever quite the same as the energy and body wisdom activated through the breath is constantly shifting and changing.

Can you do something this simple on your own? Yes, but it’s really challenging. You’ll tend to bliss out and fall asleep or encounter strong aversion to sensation or body memory and unconsciously shut down.

As your breathing coach, I’m here to help you stay present to the breath and the energy flowing in your body. I’m here as an advocate of that which is awakening.

I highly recommend you book extra time in your schedule to integrate after your session with a walk, time to be alone or to rest.

Session are generally 90 minutes. The fee is $150 for an individual session and $100 per person for up to three participants.

 

Energetic and Structural Healing Therapies

I am trained in a wide variety of mind-body therapies that help integrate mind, body and presence. Our first session is dedicated to exploring your current issues and goals and will co-create an approach that works best for you.

Sessions range from 60 - 90 minutes and are based on $100 / hour.

 

1-1 and Small Group Instruction in Mindful Movement and Sitting Meditation

Many people find private, tailored instruction a convenient and powerful way to meet their needs for greater health and well being.

Private sessions range from $100 - $150 each 1-hour session depending on location. Fee for small groups is determined by the number of people in the group.
